On November 6, 2005, Akshardham temple in Gujarat was formally open to the public. Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, the late president of India, gave it his blessing. The entire construction of Swaminarayan Akshardham complex took over five years using traditional techniques like Vastu and Pancharatra shastra.
