Ambur Anjaneyar Temple

The little industrial town with its bustling streets is where the ambur anjaneyar temple is located. This 11-foot Hanuman statue, which was carved out of a strong black stone, is shown here, crushing Sani Bhagwan beneath his foot. Puranic Significance & Beliefs

It is thought that the idol and the temple were refurbished, most likely around 1489, when Krishnadevaraya of the Vijayanagar dynasty held this area. This is confirmed by an inscription that was discovered in one of the temple’s corners. There are also incredibly exquisite Raya dynasty sculptures in the temple tower. The State Government’s HR & CE department seized control of the temple in 1976. Maha Kumbabishekam was staged in 1987.

Once a year, during the Hanuman Jayanthi celebrations, a rocky footprint thought to be that of Hanuman is given special poojas at the Anaimadugu area in the eastern part of Ambur town. It is believed that Hanuman made a great leap from here to span the Indian Ocean and arrive in Sri Lanka, where he offered Lakshmana. This herb would resurrect him while holding the Parvatha hills in one hand and standing atop Saneeswara.

The followers firmly believe that anyone who comes to this location and worships the legendary Anja Nair will be freed from all difficulties. In the same vein, this Anjaneyar is honoured as a goddess of childbirth and marriage.

If you face the sanctuary directly, you cannot see the source. Ursavare puts up a stunning show. Approaching the door from the left, the huge Ambur Anjaneyar Temple stands eleven feet tall, carved in black stone and facing south, as the name suggests. His face is facing east. Saturn is shown in this Anjaneyar pressing his head with his left leg in front of him while gently elevating and squeezing his right leg. Saturn’s face, known as Bhagavan, is directed toward Earth.
